Acrylic 10×10 on stretched canvas.
Dark and moody, this painting evokes a lightening storm approaching from over the dark desert landscape.
This was a failed painting. Actually it was a few filed paintings. After I tried and hated the third layer I decided to just scrape it all off. Raking the surface with a palette knife lifted different layers of paint, revealing colors from the previous paintings. Suddenly the landscape and stormy atmosphere appeared. Sometimes good things are hidden in the mess.
